JERUSALEM (JTA) — Iran likely has enough nuclear fuel stockpiled to make a bomb, the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman said.
U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen made the statement Sunday in answer to a question from John King on CNN’s "State of the Union" program.
"We think they do, quite frankly," Mullen said. "And Iran having nuclear weapons, I’ve believed for a long time, is a very very bad outcome — for the region and for the world."
A Washington think tank last week said Iran had enough uranium to make a nuclear bomb.
The Institute for Science and International Security released a report based on an analysis of data from the United Nations watchdog International Atomic Energy Agency that said Iran has reached "nuclear weapons breakout capability," CNN reported.
