Libyan ship docks in Egypt

(JTA) — A Libyan aid ship bound for the Gaza Strip docked in a neighboring Egyptian port.

The ship, sponsored by the Gaddafi International Charity and Development Foundation and organized by Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s son Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi, on Thursday began unloading 2,000 tons of food and medicine at the El Arish port.

Egypt will allow the goods to reach Gaza through its nearby Rafah crossing. Israeli officials had warned the ship not to breach Israeli-controlled waters.

According to reports, the younger Gaddafi is saying that he secured an Egyptian-brokered agreement from Israel to allow his group to fund a major rebuilding project in Gaza in exchange for not confronting Israel.

Israel has blocked building materials from entering Gaza, controlled by the Hamas terrorist group, saying that such materials may be used to build bunkers.
