Sad news reading your article “UJA-Fed. Faces Big Cuomo Cuts” (Feb 11). So many of the programs funded by UJA-Federation of New York make an enormous difference in the lives of many.
I know that the leadership of UJA will be working hard evaluating all their programs in the coming weeks and months. It’s my hope that Connect To Care will be funded. I have referred many constituents of mine to Connect To Care at Westchester Jewish Community Services. The service is fantastic — and offers hope and help to the unemployed during a very stressful time in people’s lives.
Every day Connect To Care participants learn of job opportunities. They receive counseling, advice and personal attention. Many have obtained jobs as a result of the services offered and contacts provided. Those who have not found work yet appreciate the fact that an organization cares about them.
I also believe that this program can be helpful to the future of UJA. I think that many successful job hunters will repay UJA with contributions once they get back on their feet.
Thank you, UJA-Federation, for caring about the unemployed.
