(JTA) — Andres Spokoiny, the CEO of the Montreal Jewish federation, has been tapped to lead the Jewish Funders Network.
Spokoiny, a native of Argentina, will become president and CEO of JFN if he can get a visa allowing him to work in the United States, JFN chair Murray Galinson said March 24 in a statement.
"As our network undergoes a global expansion, Jewish philanthropy is in the throes of enormous generational and societal changes," Galinson said. "Andres has a proven record of strategic visioning and tactical execution in various corners of the Jewish world, and those skills will serve us well at this transformative moment."
Spokoiny has a background in business, education and rabbinical studies. He worked throughout Europe for more than a decade for the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.
He is fluent in Hebrew, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Yiddish, and is proficient in Russian and German.
