Liev Schrieber as an aging goon
In Goon, a new sports movie that premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, Liev Schrieber plays an older goon, which is a hockey term for an “enforcer” or a player whose unofficial task is responding to dirty play from opponents by “checking” them.
The film revolves around Seann William Scott’s character, Doug, who becomes a goon for a minor league Canadian hockey team.
While it is heartening to see Scott back onscreen after stints in rehab, it is equally (if not more) exciting to see the union of Eugene Levy and Scott in a non-American Pie comedy.
Is that even legal? Did they have to get a special note from Universal Pictures to appear together in a movie that doesn’t turn desserts into masturbatory objects?
