- Lee D. Weiss was appointed as the chairman of the board of directors at the Foundation for Jewish Camp. He comes to the position after serving as the vice chair for the past year.
- Jeff Rubin is the new director of communication at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy. Rubin worked most recently as associate vice president of communications for Hillel.
- Sophie Fellman Rafalovitz was appointed as the Jewish Agency’s new Midwest director of aliyah. She will work in Chicago and 16 other American states helping to facilitate immigration to Israel from the region, which has become more popular over the past few years.
- James Libson, executive partner at the law firm Mishcon de Reya, was named the chairman of World Jewish Relief.
- Rosalind Klein was elected to her second term as senior vice president of B’nai B’rith International. In 2002 she became the first woman at the organization to become an international senior vice president.
- David Prystowsky was named executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council and the government affairs committee at the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago. He will supervise the federation’s government affairs office in Chicago, Springfield, and Washington D.C.
- Also at the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago, John Lowenstein was hired as the executive director of the Hillels of Illinois and vice president for campus affairs and student engagement. Lowenstein had served on the boards of the Hillel at Northwestern University and the Hillels of the Illinois Governing Commission.
- Alan van Capelle was named president and CEO of the newly merged Progressive Jewish Alliance and Jewish Funds for Justice. He begins his new post in January.
- Asher Ben-Arieh was appointed director of the Haruv Institute in Jerusalem. He is considered an expert on social indicators as they relate to child welfare.
