JERUSALEM (JTA) — Three Syrian tanks entered the demilitarized zone on the Golan Heights and remained there for several hours.

The tanks rolled into the demilitarized zone between Israel and Syria on Saturday, according to reports.

The Israel Defense Forces filed a complaint with the U.N.’s Disengagement Force on the Golan Heights over the violation of the long-standing cease-fire agreement between Israel and Syria.

The breaching of the agreement is viewed by the Israeli military as related to the current unrest in Syria and not a move against Israel. Still, the IDF raised its alert level in the Golan Heights.

Last month, the IDF evacuated the Mount Hermon tourist area after Syrians carrying weapons marched toward the border. The Syrians, believed to be rebels, did not breach the demilitarized zone border.
