(JTA) — Billionaire Ronald Perelman donated $25 million to the University of Pennsylvania, his alma mater, for a center for political science and economics.
The center at the Ivy League university will be named the Ronald O. Perelman Center for Political Science and Economics.
“I think every university should have a center where global ideas can be developed and dealt with, and where those across campus can have a platform from which to speak and learn to develop global positions,” said Perelman, the chairman of Revlon cosmetics.
Perelman earned his bachelor’s degree and MBA from the Philadelphia university and serves on its board of trustees.
He donated $20 million in 1995 for the Perelman Quadrangle, and in 2011, his parents, Raymond and the late Ruth Perelman, donated $225 million to the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, the largest individual gift in Penn’s history, according to the Daily Pennsylvanian. The name of the medical school was changed to the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
