Three prominent change-makers will take part in a discussion entitled “Understanding Difference: A Frank Conversation About Disability and Inclusion” at Cong. Rodeph Sholom on Monday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m.
The program is sponsored by The Jewish Week in partnership with the Ruderman Family Foundation, co-sponsored by Congregation Rodeph Sholom (7 W. 83rd St.) and supported by UJA-Federation of New York.
The panelists are Eustacia Cutler, mother of Temple Grandin, the animal behaviorist, autism activist and best-selling author; Susan Nussbaum, a playwright and novelist and longtime disability rights activist; and Dr. Nancy Crown, a clinical psychologist, mother of an adult on the autism spectrum, and co-founder of Rodeph Sholom’s special needs committee and Shireinu worship service.
“It is our hope that forums such as these will inspire our community to internalize the benefits that inclusion of all Jews can have in making the Jewish community a more welcoming and attractive one for all,” said Jay Ruderman, president of the Ruderman Family Foundation.
Jewish Week Book Critic Sandee Brawarsky will moderate the program, which is free and open to the public.
