The Israeli, a former junior chess champion who studied electrical engineering at the University of Texas, finished in third place Tuesday in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, the Times of Israel reported.
His winnings: $3,737,823.
Several supporters waved Israeli flags during the competition at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, according to the Israeli paper.
Lehavot, who took up professional poker six years ago, now lives in south Florida, but plays under the Israeli flag.
He was the second Israeli to progress to the finals of an international poker tournament – Tomer Benvenisti finished second in the 2003 Texas Hold’em competition.
