Boris Fishman and Zachary Lazar will discuss their highly-praised new novels and the ideas that drive them.
BORIS FISHMAN was born in the former Soviet Union and immigrated to the United States at the age of nine. “A Replacement Life,” his debut novel set in Brooklyn’s Russian émigré community, is about family, love, displacement, storytelling and language, suffused with humor.
ZACHARY LAZAR, the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, is the author of “I Pity the Poor Immigrant” and three previous books. His newest novel, involving mobster Meyer Lansky, unfolds through a mix of voices as it reflects on Israel and Jewish identity.
