Israelis Divided, Too

There’s so much talk about the split within the American Jewish community (“Iran Deal Driving Jews Farther Apart,” Aug. 14).

Should we assume that Israelis are united behind Prime Minister Netanyahu’s trashing of the treaty with Iran? On most issues the prime minister has the support of no more than half of his country. As there is a divide within the American Jewish community towards the treaty, I would bet there is a divide within Israel, too. If that is the case, the split here should be seen as less worrisome and significant.

Editor’s Note: According to a recent poll in Haaretz, a liberal Israeli daily, one in 10 Israelis support the Iran deal.
