(JTA) — Palestinian officials accused Israeli settlers of assaulting a Palestinian Authority minister near Nablus amid multiple cases of attacks by Jews on Arabs as revenge for Palestinian terrorism.
The alleged attack on Communications and Information Technology Minister Alam Moussa occurred on Thursday, unnamed officials told the Maan news agency, saying assailants smashed his car windows during the attack.
On Friday, police recorded three attacks in Israel and the West Bank by Palestinians on Jews, and one attack by an Israeli Jew against four Arabs. One of the Palestinian assailants, who tried to stab a police officer near Hebron, was killed. Other injuries sustained by victims and attackers were light to moderate-serious.
Last week, Palestinian terrorists killed an Israeli couple, Naama and Eitam Henkin, near the West Bank settlement of Itamar.
Also on Thursday, a young Arab-Israeli man from Kalanswa near the Tel Aviv suburb of Kfar Saba said he was attacked in Netanya, north of Tel Aviv, by a group of Jewish men, who called out “death to Arabs,” Ynet reported.
The man, Abed al-Qader Jamal, was in Netanya with two friends when several assailants surrounded them, he said. He sustained minor injuries in a beating that was interrupted by police. Reports in Israeli media about the incident did not say whether any suspects had been apprehended in connection with it.
Netanya Mayor Miriam Feirberg Ikar told Ynet the people responsible for the attack were “a handful of outlaws” who “will not be permitted to destroy the atmosphere of coexistence in Netanya.” She said she would invite the victims of the assaults in Netanya to her office to express her solidarity with them.
