(JTA) — The Jewish community of Turkey hosted an iftar dinner marking the end of the day’s Ramadan fast.

About 1,100 people attended the dinner Monday night in the Edirne province, near the landmark Selimiye Mosque, in the northwestern part of the country, the Daily Sabah reported. The Chief Rabbi Foundation joined the community members in sponsoring the dinner.

Edirne Gov. Günay Özdemir called the dinner a good example of how people from different faiths can live together in peace.

It is the fourth year that a Jewish-sponsored interfaith iftar dinner has taken place in the province.
