JCPA, Hillel plenum draws 800

The plenum for the Jewish Council for Public Affairs and Hillel drew more than 800 delegates. Issues to be considered at the plenum, which started Sunday in Washington, included energy independence, global warming and Iraq policy. Delegates will close the session on Tuesday with lobbying on Capitol Hill. Among the policies they will advocate are sanctions against Iran and Sudan; embryonic stem cell research funding; caps on carbon emissions; expanding the definition of a hate crime; and a ban on torture and extraordinary rendition.
