Rabbi Wolpe’s column, “Learning And Legacy” (April 24), is brilliant, a torpedo against critics of the Torah. Yes, as he says, knowledge and life are key. I had never seen with such clarity the distinction the rabbi makes between the the
Gilgamesh fantasy story, and the truth emanating from the Torah. Thank you, Rabbi Wolpe.

In response to “Safe Space for Orthodox Gays” (April 17), some suggestions by Merchav Batuah are positive. Certainly, students
should not be forced to go through reparative
therapy, which has long-term harmful effects. 
Nor should an Orthodox organization force
out a gay member just as it should not
force out those who do not keep kosher
or Shabbat.
