Rabbis sentenced to prison for selling rabbinic ordination diplomas

Two rabbis from Israel’s Chief Rabbinate were sentenced to prison terms for selling rabbinic ordination diplomas to Israeli security personnel.

Nine women took the Chief Rabbinate’s exam to be kosher inspectors — the first time females were permitted to take the test.

Nearly half of Israelis surveyed said Israel’s Chief Rabbinate should officially recognize Reform and Conservative Judaism.
