A Boston-area court dismissed a larceny charge and continued an embezzlement charge against Rabbi Barry Starr, who stole money from his former synagogue to pay off a blackmailer.
The Boston-area man, 31, was sentenced to four to five years for threatening to expose the rabbi’s two-year affair with a 16-year-old male unless he was paid off.
Several former congregants were in the courtroom to support Rabbi Barry Starr, who is charged with embezzlement and larceny in his efforts to hide an alleged affair with a teenage male.
