On the Israel-Palestinian front, a year of disappointment

A year ago Secretary of State John Kerry announced the launch of peace talks. Now, he can’t even get the two sides to agree on a cease-fire.

Israeli-Palestinian peace talks collapsed because neither party sees an urgency in making peace, Martin Indyk, the chief U.S. negotiator, said.

A meeting between Israeli and Palestinian negotiators ended without an agreement to resume peace talks, a Palestinian official said.
