M. Bartelstein, Polish publisher, 52 years of age, committed suicide today, leaving a wife and five children. It was stated that the cause for his suicide was the desperate financial position in which he found himself on account of the burden of taxation.

Heavy taxes are now being imposed in Poland, not only on income and property, but also on the turn-over in business. This is being done in conformity with the present policy of the Polish Premier and Finance Minister, Grabski, to create a healthier basis for the Polish currency.
