Ten Thousand Dollars Raised at Heifetz Recital for Stranded Physicians in Europe

SIGN UP FOR THE JTA DAILY BRIEFING

Jascha Heifetz gave a benefit performance at the Manhattan Opera House, Sunday afternoon, under the auspices of the Committee to help refugee physicians. The house was sold out and with donations pledged by many in the audience, the receipts will probably exceed $10,000. The Rev. Dr. Nathan Krass made an address on behalf of the refugee physicians.

Arthur Lehman, former President of the Federation lot the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies and Associate Chairman of the Board of Trustees, was the guest of honor at a dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria given by the radio and music trades in appreciation of Mr. Lehman’s four years work in establishing the Federation.

Alexander Sisemann presided. A check was presented to the Federation through Mr. Lehman, representing the contribution of the radio and music trades toward the deficit of a million and a quarter of the Federation for this year.
