The regalia of the Independent Klan of America consists of a “night gown, a little out of shape,” with a white balmet on which is pictured the Statue of Liberty, Samuel Bemenderfer of Muncie, Ind., President of the order, testified in the Federal Court in the suit of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan of America to obtain $500,000 damages from the Independent Klan and to restrain it from using “klan” in its name.

Bemenderfer was questioned by plaintiff counsel, who sought to show that the Independent Klan used the same costume as the older body.
