Mr. Julius Berger, head of the Organization and Propaganda Department of the Jewish National Fund with headquarters in Jerusalem, sailed on the Homeric last night, following a three months stay in the United States.
Mr. Berger, who came here in the interest of the Jewish National Fund, the agency of the Zionist Organization dedicated to the purchase of land in Palestine as the inalienable property of the Jewish people, studied conditions in this country.
This was Mr. Berger’s first visit to the United States. In an interview before his departure Mr. Berger stated to a representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, that it is his impression that American Jewry has unlimited possibilities and energies which could be harnessed for the speedy reconstruction of Palestine.
Mr. Berger, who visited many parts of this country, carries away with him the impression that the American Jews would respond more readily to the appeal of Palestine, if the proper American methods of enlightenment were applied to the work of the Fund, and if the specific methods utilized during the past 25 years activity of the Fund were applied also in the Jewish communities in this country, in accordance, naturally, with the prevailing taste and custom.
Mr. Berger stated he was greatly impressed by the devotion and earnestness of the American Jewish women and their work for Palestine, particularly those women affiliated with the Hadassah Organization. The Jewish woman, who has played an extraordinary role in Jewish life under the most trying conditions, has risen to her height in America, combining both the specific qualities of Jewish womanhood and those of American womanhood, he said.
