That the Jews in Syria are a state building dement was the opinion expressed by M. Ponsot, French High Commissioner of Syria.
During his farewell visit to Damascus, M. Ponsot received a delegation of Jews which complained to him that Syrian Jews are not admitted to government positions. The High Commissioner promised the delegation to consider the question favorably as he did concerning the same question in Tunis and Morocco.
