The Minister of Education, M. Naidenoff, received a delegation of the Central Jewish Consistory of Bulgaria who asked him for Government aid for the Jewish schools in the country.
The Minister said that although the Budget had already been voted and no provision had been made in it for the Jewish schools, he would see that something should be done to assist the Jewish schools and he promised that he would support any efforts that would be made to obtain a subsidy for them.
“The Government,” M. Naidenoff said, “is completely satisfied with the manner in which the Jewish schools are doing their work. The report presented by the Government Inspector of Schools states that the Jewish schools are on a level with the Government schools and that the children have as good a knowledge of the Bulgarian language as those who attend the ordinary Government schools. Sufficient attention is being given to general subjects and the children are being educated to become good Bulgarian citizens. The Government will therefore see to it that the Jewish schools should be given adequate financial assistance.”
