More concrete evidence of the guilt of Semion Petlura in the anti-Jewish massacres in the Ukraine were presented by Pincas Krassney, former Minister of Jewish Affairs in the Ukrainian cabinet.
Mr. Krassney published an article in the Russian newspaper, “Proletarska Pravda” in which he quotes documents to the effect that in February 1919 Petlura issued an order to the Proskurow military authorities that in case of a revolution one half of the Jewish population of the city was to be slain.
Mr. Krassney also states that Polienko, the organizer of the anti-Jewish pogroms in the cities of Berditcheff and Zhitomir, was released at the personal order of Petlura.
