The saving from drowning in the river of a Jew by a German pastor has attracted wide attention throughout Transylvania.
The pastor, Theordor Hermann, jumped into the water when he noticed that a Jewish horse driver, Goldstein, was drowning. Goldstein was saved by the pastor, but the horse was drowned. The pastor made a collection among his Christian friends and raised the sum necessary to replace the lost horse to the poor Jewish driver.
