The municipal government of Vienna, now under the control of the Social-Democrats, is discriminating against Jewish applicants for city posts and by its action, is responsible for a number of withdrawals from the Jewish community.

This charge was made today by the “Neue Welt,” Zionist Weekly published here. The paper gives names and cites specific instances when Jewish applicants for the municipal civil service were rejected only to be accepted later when they presented proof that they had declared themselves to be “Konfessionlose” (without a faith) and had withdrawn from the Jewish community.

The newspaper quotes the utterances of several influential city officials who frankly stated that belonging to the Jewish faith was a hindrance.
