The demands of the Palestine wine-growers for imperial preference with regard to duty were presented to Col. Leopold H.H. Amery, Colonial Secretary, by Jack Shapiro, manager of the Rishon L’Zion wine cellars. The Colonial Secretary promised to hasten the inquiry into the matter and expressed his sympathy with the point of view presented.

“I regard it as a pleasant duty to help the Jewish colonization in Palestine,” he stated.
