An Arab Jewish conflict as the result of the Western Wall issue is inevitable according to the view of the Jerusalem correspondent of the London “Daily Express.” Jewish indignation is of a very serious nature unless the Mandates Commission will find a solution. The Moslem youth, the correspondent reports, is now being organized as “Knights of the Wall” in defense of what is termed a Jewish attempt to annex the property of the Mosque of Omar.
The despatch further adds that the relations between the British authorities and the Jewish community in Jerusalem are becoming increasingly strained, especialy since Rabbi Kook refused to comply with the order of the District Commissioner to have the lux lamps removed from the Wall. The authorities in Jerusalem are powerless in the matter. This is partly due to the fact that the government at present is without a High Commissioner, Sir John Chancellor not yet having arrived.
