America’s Independence Day was observed in Jerusalem in a manner unparalleled in previous years.

A baseball game between the American team and the Maccabees was played in the afternoon, with the American Consul to Jerusalem, Mr. Knbenshue, pitching the first ball. Dr. Judah L. Magnes, Chancellor of the Hebrew University, acted as umpire.
