An attempt to organize a Moslem demonstration here miscarried when the Moslem Supreme Council issued an appeal quieting the public. The Mufti of Beirut refused to sign the appeal.

Certain Moslems of Damascus applied for permission to stage a demonstration. It is not yet known whether permission was granted.

An unconfirmed report from Amman states that Emir Abdullah has postponed his visit to Iraq owing to unrest in the country following the general strike.
