A recommendation for the expenditure of £300,000 (approximately $1,500,000) for reconstruction work following the Arab outbreak, was decided upon by the Reconstruction Committee after an eight-hour session. The sum is to be divided almost equally for the repair of urban and rural points destroyed or damaged in the outbreak.
A special Reconstruction Committee will be appointed by the government for Safed. The District Commissioner will act as chairman of the committee, which is to consist of the mayor, a medical officer, the engineer of the Northern District, an adviser of the Central Town Planning Commission and a Jewish representative to direct the town planning. The Zionist Executive has been asked to name a man for this post.
