The Wailing Wall Commission, here to investigate Moslem and Jewish claims to the Wall, today received a telegram from the Moslem Youth’s Association of Egypt saying that they were “prepared, like all Moslems the world over, for a holy war to defend the precious shrine (the Wailing Wall) against all attacks”.
The Jewish memorandum which will be presented to the Wailing Wall Commission was finally approved today at a joint meeting of the leading rabbis and the advocates who will press the Jewish case. The memorandum is based largely on the memorandum prepared by Dr. Cyrus Adler, president of the American Jewish Committee and the Jewish Theological Seminary. With Rabbi Meer Berlin presiding, Rabbis Kook, Sonnenfeld and Blau and David Yellin and Mordecai Eliash put the finishing touches on the memorandum. The rabbinate here has received telegrams from rabbinical councils all over the world empowering it to present the Jewish case. Mesages have come from New York, Montreal, Antwerp, Rome, Amsterdam, Bucharest, Paris, Johannes-burg and Copenhagen.
The Commissioners today informed the Jewish Agency that they intended to visit the principal synagogues in Jerusalem. Emir Said El Jazairi today arrived from Damascus to appear before the Wailing Wall Commission on behalf of the Moroccans living in the vicinity of the Wall. El Jazairi is a grandson of Andul Daker, Moroccan chieftain.
The Arab paper “El Hayat” says that Egypt, Lebanon and Syria are also sending emissaries to appear before the Commission. Ahmed Zaki, well-known Islamic scholar, has arrived from Egypt.
