Grateful for the help extended to him by Jews when he was a child, a local Christian Greek merchant by the name of Nitchitch has donated to the Salonika Jewish community the sum of ten thousand dollars for the purpose of building a Jewish orphan asylum. The orphan asylum will bear Nitchitch’s name, according to a decision of the Jewish Kehillah of this city.
