Ignoring the fact that such prominent Jews as Rabbi Schorr and the president of the Organization for the Protection of Jewish Women, M. Baumber, are members of the organization committee of the Congress to Combat the White Slave Traffic, the Congress was nevertheless opened here under the auspices of the Catholic Church. The opening was preceded by services at the Cathedral of St. John.
The delegates representing sixteen countries were welcomed by Dr. A. Wysocki, under-secretary in the ministry for foreign affairs, Metropolitan Szeptycki and Archbishop Ropp representing Cardinal Kakowski. Representatives of the Jewish community and Rabbi Schorr were not present because of the Succoth holiday.
