Gains as large as those recorded in the recent Reichstag elections were scored yesterday by the National Socialists in a number of municipal elections throughout the country. The largest gains were made in the states of Baden and Mecklenburg and in the Free City of Danzig.
The Hitlerites jumped from no representatives in Mecklenburg in 1926 to more than a third of the total in yesterday’s elections. In Baden they also made great strides going from no mandates to 28 in Karlsruhe and from none to 21 in Kehl. They leaped from none to 14 in Freiburg, from one to 9 in Loerrach and from one to 12 in Constance.
In Danzig 12 of the 72 senate seats are now held by the National Socialists.
