the proposed legislative council.
The resolution adopted by the Council declares that “Palestine Jewry is dumbfounded at the government’s and the Prime Minister’s confirming in the House of Commons the policy of the White Paper. This breach of obligation to the Jewish people is an insult to our honor and an attempt to frustrate our work in our country. We reaffirm that we have no confidence in the government with this White Paper as the basis of its policy.
“The Palestine Jewish community calls on Jewry throughout the world to continue to fight against the repeated attacks of His Majesty’s government. No abuse of any government will break the eternal bond between the land of Israel and the Jewish people. Our rebuilding and regeneration of the country will go on.”
The text of the resolution as announced is much milder than the draft which was debated at some length. The final text, however, reaffirms more strongly than the original the proposed non-cooperation with a government adhering to the White Paper as the basis of its policy.
