So that Jewish children of the West Side may have the strength to study at school and so their fathers might have more courage and strength to search for work, the United Hebrew Trades Free Restaurant has inaugurated a plan whereby school children and their parents residing in the Lawndale neighborhood, are being fed three times a day.
Groups of children come there every morning with their school books under their arms and after having their breakfast, they depart for school. Their places are then taken by their parents. Old and young are seen in a constant line awaiting food there.
Fourteen Jewish labor organizations, affiliated with the American Federation of Labor, headed by Al Green, chairman of the United Hebrew Trades, are in charge of this free restaurant.
