The first woman physician in the world was a Jewish girl, Rebecca Zerline, it was disclosed here by Dr. Oscar Leibowitz, director of the Hamburg Sanitarium, in an address before the Historical Society of Netherland Jews. Dr. Leibowitz said that Dr. Zerline was considered a famous oculist in her time. As early as 1430 she practiced at Frankfort and her name is well known in the history of medicine in the middle ages.
