Echo- of Anti-jewish Outbreak at Zloczow: Leader of Jewish Community Goes to Prison for a Month on L

Motel Markowicz, a member of the Executive of the Jewish Community of the township of Zloczow, near Lodz, where a serious anti-Jewish outbreak occurred on June 4th. during the Corpus Christi procession there, has been sentenced to four weeks! arrest, on a charge of libel brought against him by a school-teacher named Jarmicki, whom he has accused of having shot during the outbreak at a Jewish woman named Normann.

Markowicz pleaded that the case should be, adjourned till the trial of the persons charged with participation in the anti-Jewish excesses takes place, declaring that the evidence forthcoming at the trial would prove his charge against Jarmicki. The Court refused, however, to consider his plea.
