Jewish artists throughout the world were invited today by the Jewish National Fund, the chief Zionist land purchasing agency, to submit designs for the fifth volume of the Fund’s Golden Book. The design should express the object of the Jewish National Fund, the only text (in Hebrew letters) to be “Keren Kayemeth Leisrael, Sefer Hazahav, Kerach V” (Jewish National fund, Golden Book, Volume V).
If possible, sketches should be submitted in water colors and the design should be accompanied by an explicit description which should also indicate the materials to be used in executing the design. The design submitted is to be for the front cover and reverse and the back, all of the size of the Golden Book, which is 66×49.5×14.3 centimeters. The volume will contain 500 pages, each 65×49 centimeters. The design is to be accompanied by a sealed envelope containing the name and address of the artist.
The judges will be Dr. Saul Tchernikovsky, famous Hebrew poet; Herman Struck, noted artist and S. A. Van Vriesland, Zionist leader. Three prizes are offered, a first prize of $175, a second prize of $125, and a third prize of $75. All designs must reach the Jewish National Fund headquarters in Jerusalem not later than October 20, 1931.
