Engagement of Jewish Singer in Berlin Opera House Gauses Scene at Meeting of City Council

There was a scene at to-day’s meeting of the Berlin City Council, which had to be suspended for a time, as a result of an outburst by one of the Nazi members, Councillor Matschuck, who attacked the municipality for having signed a contract with the famous Jewish opera singer, Alexander Kipnis, and the Jewish conductor, Leo Blech, to appear this season at the Berlin Opera House. Councillor Matschuck accused the management of the Berlin Opera House of being under Jewish influence.
