The Board of Jewish Deputies will consider the invitation of the American Jewish Congress to participate in the Geneva conference at its session on Sunday.
In anticipation of these deliberations, the “Jewish Chronicle” seeks at the last moment to use its influence to prevail upon the Board to decline the invitation.
The paper argues that it has already been established that the conference will not be representative of world Jewry and has merely succeeded to provoke controversy which has driven deep the cleavage between the two opposing camps.
The paper terms the conference “Wise’s debating society.”
The “Chronicle” maintains that the Board of Deputics should participate in the conference only if it can be shown, which as yet has not been done, that the Congress can devise practical and effective measures.
At the same time the B’nai Brith at a largely attended conference voted to participate in the Geneva sessions.
