Official Says No Ground for Apprehension for Jews Living in French Mandated Territory

An investigation into the anti-Semitic boycott propaganda conducted in Damascus has failed to reveal anything of a disquieting nature.

This statement is made by M. Alexandre Leger, Director of the Political and Commercial Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here, in response to an inquiry from the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

There is no ground for any apprehension concerning the safety of the Jewish population residing in the French mandated territory of Syria, M. Leger declared.

He stated further that the French High Commissioner in Beirut has no knowledge of any anti-Semitic incidents.

The League for Combatting Anti-Semitism, which conducted a separate inquiry into the report that anti-Semitic boycott propaganda was being conducted, has also informed the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that the incidents were of a very slight and insignificant character.
