Grain and hay on 2,700 hectares of land in Bira Bidjan were destroyed by the heavy rains, according to telegraphic advices received here from Bira Bidjan.

The rainfall is the heaviest in sixteen years, it is stated.

At the same time it is made known that the desertions on the part of newcomers to Bira Bidjan has reached an average of 58 per cent, according to official statistics compiled by the Regional Soviet.

Fifty-six Jewish immigrants from Belgium, including eleven women and fifteen children, passed through Moscow today enroute to Bira Bidjan.
