Warsaw (Oct. 28)
The projected government decree, making slight modifications in the compulsory Sunday closing trade law will not be issued as a result of the opposition which has been expressed from certain quarters.
The measure as proposed would have permitted trading for several hours early Sunday in perishable foods and other merchandise.
Observing Jews who under present conditions lose two days a wek would gain but little from the projected modifications, it was pointed out. Nevertheless, the Catholic Party and the Chamber of Commerce protested.
As a result the bill will come up in Parliament for discussion tomorrow.
