Four hundred needy families of all faiths, Jewish, Catholic and Protestant alike, received Passover and Easter holiday greetings and gifts in the form of checks when Alfred Hart carried out an annual custom started four years ago.

Mr. Hart is the founder and head of the chain of 140 groceries and markets in Rochester and vicinity, known as the Hart Food Stores, Inc. He is president of Temple Beth El and the Jewish Children’s Home. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the United Synagogues of America.

Mr. Hart mailed checks of five dollars each to one hundred Jewish families, one hundred Catholic families, one hundred Protestant families, and also to one hundred families of war veterans of the three faiths.

The names of the poor families were taken from lists of the Jewish Welfare Council, Social Welfare League, and the Catholic Charities.
