The Berlin Retailers Association has petitioned the Minister of Education to purchase only German-made sewing machines for use in the schools. Until this time, machines used in the schools have been lent for that purpose without charge by the Singer Sewing Machine Company. The retailers protest that the Singer concern is an American firm which was founded by a Jew, Isaac Singer, and consequently, its machines should not be used in Hitler Germany.
