The Austrian ambassador has brought a suit for libel against Das Dritte Reich, German Hitlerite paper published here, on the grounds that it has published material libelous of Dr. Engelbert Dollfuss, Austrian Chancellor.

The passage in question stated that Dr. Dollfuss had been bought out by the Jews to protect them from the “national will” of the German and Austrian peoples.

The suit has brought considerable comment in the Brazil press, which has been comparing it to analogous cases in which newspapers were sued for insulting the leaders of their own or of a friendly nation. The case promises to be interesting to Jews everywhere. The local Hitlerites are preparing to prove the existence of what they term the “Jewish rule of Austria and the influence of Jews upon the Chancellor, inspiring him in his fight against the “Third Reich’.”
